About 50 people came together to raise awareness to help sick or premature babies at the March for Babies walk. The event is held nationwide and supports the March of Dimes. Local participants walked 1 1/2 miles in a loop, starting and ending at Hanford West High School. Participants also raised money to fund research and support programs that help mothers experience healthy pregnancies.

Kings County marked the end of its weeklong Homecoming Week celebration with its annual parade on Saturday. Hundreds of spectators came out to watch the traditional downtown event, which featured law enforcement, floats, performances by nine school bands and appearances by this year�s Homecoming Royalty. Live music, food and activities were provided after the parade at Civic Park.

Kings County schools could be seeing an influx of funding from the state over the next four years if Gov. Brown gets his way. Brown�s state budget revision would modify the current K-12 funding formula by giving schools with a significant percentage of low-income students and English learners more funding each year.
